Seminal California punk band and Ernie Ball artists NOFX have recorded a new record titled First Ditch Effort, and are releasing it tomorrow. The entire album sounds amazing, though we’re certainly fond of one track in particular: in the middle of California Drought, Fat Mike gives a shout-out to Ernie Ball!

Though the band is well known for having a strong sense of humor, resulting in many of their songs being downright funny, the new album has a pronounced seriousness throughout:

Yeah, that’s what the album turned into. There were 19 songs recorded for it. After you record all these songs, you kinda see the shape of it, where it’s going. It could have been the zany album if I chose the six other songs that got dropped. But it had a really neat feel to it as is.

NOFX will be touring North America with Pears and Useless ID in support of First Ditch Effort, which releases October 7 on Fat Wreck Chords. The band’s tour schedule can be found here, and you can buy the album on the Fat Wreck Chords site tomorrow.

Stream the record in its entirety below and let us know what you think!

Of course, don’t forget to enjoy the rest of NOFX’s deep catalog while you’re at it!
