Highlighting all of our trendsetting, diverse artists that you may not know of from all different types of genres. Debuting the series for this week are Soccer Mommy, Culture Abuse, Code Orange, The Menzingers, and John Moreland. Add them to your playlists and catch their show at a venue near you. 

Soccer Mommy

 

Sophie Allison, best known as Soccer Mommy, is a super talented songwriter from Nashville, TN who’s constantly turning heads with her personal lyrics and ultra hooky guitar riffs. She is currently finishing up her European tour with dates posted in the states for this fall.

Culture Abuse

 

Culture Abuse has released their sophomore album, Bay Dream on Epitaph Records. The album showcases an evolved, melody driven sound with lyrics themed around lead singer Kelling’s recent move from San Francisco to Los Angeles. When asked about the albums diverse sound Kelling said,
I wrote songs in my head until I got a guitar, going after the sound that I think each song needs individually, so the sound is in constant change.

Code Orange

 

From everyone’s “band to watch list” to the cover of Revolver Magazine, and an impressive Grammy Nomination, Code Orange has been making major waves. Code Orange recently played Jay Z’s Made In America Festival with genre blending Hip Hop, Rap and EDM artists. The band was not afraid to bring out their American Hardcore genre to the diverse crowd.

The Menzingers

 

Philly based rockers, The Menzingers have released their fifth album titled, After The Party. The album debuted at #19 on the Billboard Top Current Albums chart. Watch the music video for the titled track and be sure to attend one of their rousing live shows.

John Moreland

 

John Moreland has a unique and timeless voice that’s combined with the spirit of legendary American singer/songwriters. From emotionally deep lyrics about life, to passionate choruses about isolation, John is the epitome of a working musician. John Moreland shows his grit from a self ran label and then later signing with 4AD. He’s had song placements on “Sons of Anarchy,” an emerging artist nomination from the Americana Music Association, and has performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk Series. Listen above.
