Ernie Ball Music Man’s HQ town of San Luis Obispo, California welcomed Shabang Music Festival again this past weekend, May 5-6th. What started as merely a few friends playing music on top of Cuesta Ridge Mountain for 20 people in 2014 has spiraled into the go-to music event for Central Coast natives. Now, Shabang hosts over 10,000 people sprawling across 5 stages. This is much more than your typical small-scale music festival experience, hosting 50+ live performances, and spotlighting local talent, artisan vendors, and artists of all kinds.
Fans gathered on Friday and Saturday at Shabang to enjoy art installations and celebrate up-and-coming musicians. Shabang’s newly implemented Battle of the Bands event highlights new acts in various cities across California. The winner of each show won a spot on the lineup at Shabang. This year, the festival featured San Luis Obispo’s own Couch Dog.
