The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has officially crowned The Eagles’ 1976 release of, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975), as the All-Time Best-Selling Album ever. The compilation record is the most purchased album worldwide. Reaching 38 million purchases and downloads, or 38 times platinum in industry terms. The Eagles were able to surpass Michael Jackson’s iconic 1982 album Thriller, which had held the #1 spot for decades.
Not far behind their #1 seat, the Eagle’s Hotel California has also reached the #3 spot for All-Time Best-Selling Albums. Hotel California was released in December of 1976, just 10 months after Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975). Ernie Ball is stoked to recognize this legendary band and longtime artist family member in the #1 and #3 All-Time Best-Selling Album spots.
