With the recent wildfire devastation in California due to Northern California’s Camp Fire and Southern California’s Woolsey Fire, Metallica has taken action, using their non-profit foundation, All Within My Hands, to raise funds for fire relief. At the beginning of November, the heavy metal icons performed an acoustic benefit concert in San Francisco at the Masonic. The acoustic set included a handful of covers, such as Blue Öyster Cult’s “Veteran of the Psychic Wars” and acoustic renditions of several Metallica classics, such as “Nothing Else Matters”.
The All Within My Hands foundation donates its raised funds to organizations such as Feeding America. The concert alone, which included an auction, resulted in over a million dollars raised, however Metallica’s philanthropic work didn’t end when the concert ended. The band’s performance was recorded and will be released on February 1st, titled Helping Hands… Live & Acoustic at the Masonic. The album is available for pre-order, which includes two-colored LPs on a 140-gram vinyl, with a digital download.
Metallica is currently beginning its Worldwired tour, with tour dates upcoming on the West Coast, before going overseas in 2019. Get your tickets now before they sell out.
