The Vans Warped Tour is finally underway, and we are out on the road supporting some of our favorite artists, including our PLAY Warped Tour …
Thanks to the Ernie Ball PLAY Warped Tour contest, some of the country’s best unsigned bands have the opportunity to play the Vans Warped Tour mainstage and compete for an amazing grand prize: $40,000+ in cash/prizes AND a 3-song EP produced by Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory.
Ernie Ball artist, singer-songwriter and guitarist, Julien Baker, recently stopped by The A.V. Club to offer up a forlorn cover of Death Cab For Cutie’s “Photobooth,” off the band’s The Forbidden Love E.P. Watch the performance below.
In case you missed it, Ernie Ball artist, Josh Carter, and Sarah Barthel, together known as electronic rock duo, Phantogram, were the musical guests last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. They performed “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore”, the first single off their new album, Three, which is due out September 16 on Republic Records.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve no doubt heard about the Guns N Roses reunion tour that kicked off in April of this year with shows in Las Vegas and at the Coachella Music Festival. After years of speculation, fans were excited to get confirmation that 2016 would be the year when it finally would happen for real. In particular, fans were treated to performances of some songs the band hadn’t played live together in over two decades.
Our good friends over at Alt Press recently posted their list of the 10 most influential bands of pop punk. We’re happy to say that eight of the ten bands mentioned (Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Simple Plan, blink-182, Green Day, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World + MxPx) are members of the Ernie Ball family. We have a long-standing relationship with the pop-punk scene, stemming largely from long-term relationships with the listed artists, and other pop-punk bands like Modern Baseball, The Wonder Year, and All Time Low, as well as our twenty year relationship with Warped Tour via our Battle of the Bands program (now called Ernie Ball: PLAY Warped).
When you think about The Beatles and their profound effect on popular culture and music it’s easy to forget that they recorded all of their music within a span of about 8 years. Since then, for a period of 45 years, Paul McCartney has been churning out music as a solo artist. In recognition of that body of work, McCartney has released Pure McCartney, a career retrospective covering some of the best tracks from his post-Beatles years. The collection is available in three editions: an abbreviated two-disc CD with 39 tracks, a four-disc vinyl set with 46 tracks, and a four-disc CD + deluxe digital edition with 67 tracks.
And here they are, the third and final group of Ernie Ball: PLAY Warped Tour winners! (We’ve previously announced Part 1 and Part 2 here on the blog). As many of you know, this is the 20th year that Ernie Ball has partnered with Warped Tour to give bands a platform to play live.
Billy Duffy of The Cult is featured on the next episode of Ernie Ball: The Pursuit of Tone, which airs Friday, July 1st at 8pm ET/PT only on Audience Music (DIRECTV ch.239 or on AT&T U-verse ch.1114). Emerging from the violent streets of Manchester during the ‘real’ punk rock wars and rolling into post punk, death rock, hard rock and back. He has played with the best, Morrissey, Jagger, Iggy et al, this kid has done more than most could ever dream. He is peerless, a tyrannical perfectionist and iconoclast. In a world of self-imposed savants and virtuosos, he has never been a self-promoter leaving that for his live performances and studio recordings.
As promised… here is the second round of our PLAY Warped Tour winners! (You can find our announcement of the first 15 winners here).
After over 11,000 entries and months of voting, we are thrilled to present the next 10 winners (stay tuned to this blog for more winners to be announced). These bands will play the Vans Warped Tour mainstage in their respective cities and will be in the running to win our grand prize – $40,000+ in cash and prizes + a 3-song EP produced by Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory.
