Lil Nas X went country, Marshmello tried his hand at pop-punk, and now the world is accepting a new blending of genres as Beartooth takes their hardcore sounds into a more folkier realm.

The band recently ventured to Nashville, TN to record a unique EP at the legendary Blackbird Studio. The forthcoming record pulls inspiration from Appalachian and country and was engineered by John McBride — who has worked with notable country artists including Martina McBride, Dolly Parton, and Garth Brooks.

While the project is an opportunity for the group to expand on their creative talent, the EP remains a personal venture for vocalist Caleb Shomo, who grew up listening to Appalachian and country around the house or at family gatherings.

The EP will be accompanied by a documentary detailing the intimate and raw sessions and is slated to release September 13. Listen to the emotional and stripped down version of Beartooth in their new video for “Clever” below.
